Just found this: http://www.transdiffusion.org/tv/halcyo ... 0s/camelot - It seems that both BBC and ITV both stopped broadcasting briefly - so my memory wasn't completely false - just the timing of it. I must confess that I'd completely forgotten about newsreader John Roberts. With 50 yrs hindsight, it's clear that his announcement was riddled with errors (not his fault, he was just reading his script). I probably heard it then on "Tonight" & not on Granada / ATV.

You didn't live in the Granada/ABC area, did you, Rob?

It was (broadly, but not exactly) the area covered by Granada and Yorkshire Television today (to the limited extent that they aren't the same thing).

I have an idea that you might have been in the ATV/ABC area...

I didn't have a clue at that time,I was only 10 months old....
I can remember the news about the murder of his brother though.....I was facinated by the name of the asssasin Sirhan Sirhan....as a inocent lad I was :shock:
