I liked the Specs Appeal cover, i thought it was quite inventive but then again it was designed by Hipgnosis (i think?).

Well I'm sorry I spoke. CD covers sell CD's which is what we want Hank to do, so I thought it was an interesting topic, but apparently maybe not.

Don't be sorry you spoke Sir... we're all entitled to an opinion. There is no right or wrong in these matters.
So, Hank has a new album... new record label... superb!
Originals... covers... who cares? As of yet, who knows?
Hank's got a new album...

I hope its a mix of covers with some originals thrown in, something along the lines of the 'Into the light' and 'Heartbeat' albums.
Hank played a 'new' track during his 1995 tour called 'Redback' that has never been recorded so that might be included.

Why not ? I saw the Beach Boys at the Paris Olympia last summer, and although only two original members were there, their set was quite good ! ;)

Didier,
It was only one original member, Mike Love.
Bruce Johnston didn't join the band until 1965 replacing Glen Campbell who joined a few months earlier when Brian Wilson stopped touring with them.
I saw the reunion tour in 2012 at Wembley when they had Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston.

I knew about Bruce Johnston only joining in 1965, but i considered him as almost an original member, just as Brian Bennett with the Shadows ! ;)

Superb news. I'm pretty excited about this one.

When "Django's Castle" was announced I had a - possibly misguided - rant about the support (or, rather, the lack of) for Hank from his record company. My view at the time was that he was finally releasing the type of recorded material he wanted but, because it didn't fit their preconceived idea of what a Hank Marvin album should be, the record company weren't publicising or even pressing it as a CD. Now, though, I'm not even sure "Django's Castle" was even released under a mainstream record label. It doesn't seem that Hank has a record contract anymore. That could be very good news.

When publicising "Guitar Man", Hank was not shy in stating that he was not keen on some of the material that Universal had suggested. We still got Patience and Light My Fire, though. Yeurgh. I shudder to think what the titles that Hank refused were.

"Django's Castle" was an album of exactly the type of music that Hank has wanted to play to audiences for quite some time now. There were no constraints. The tracks were faithful to the genre of Gypsy Jazz, stamped with that unmistakable Marvin touch.

Now that we have been promised another album I am keen to hear what he has chosen to do. If Hank has recorded "Hank" with the same freedom as he did "Django's Castle" then this might be the first time in a very, very long time that we will have heard him playing exactly what he wants to play without the dictation of a bunch of suits trying to squeeze every last penny (and therefore the soul) out of the project. Money is no longer an object, otherwise we'd see a full publicity campaign. Hank is recording for the love of it. The potential of that idea is mouth-watering.

My prediction? Due to lack of record company funds it won't be opulently produced (as, say, "Into the Light, "Heartbeat" or the Shadows albums of the eighties were), but we'll get strong melody and tasteful interpretations. If we get snatches of improvisation (which, let's face it, are the real Marvin magic) similar to those we heard on "Guitar Player" or some of the eighties tracks then we're in for a treat.

I can't wait. Bring it on.

All those who want to play the cover, or would like a "colour-it-yourself" replica included... :?

Just pleased Hank is still enthused enough to deliver a new CD. Long may it continue. Not sure why the production shouldn't be as good as the albums (an age thing) you speak of Justin. I'm sure Hank is just as driven to 'get it right' as Bruce always was/is - and I'm not just talking about the performance.
Looking forward to it immensely.
