The Sun never bothered to mention his birthday this year, or last year, or the year before that but felt it important to list people i had never even heard of.
They do sometimes mention Bruce's though.
I sometimes feel the Shadows are neglected by the media but they were falling over themselves to report when he refused his MBE and something that happened in the mid 90's that i won't go into.

Paul Childs wrote:During the 1981 tour at the Cornwall Coliseum, I can't remember the exact date now but I think it was between Hank's & Bruce's Birthdays which are only five days apart, Bruce said on stage, ''In (whatever) day's time we'll both be 40.'' So Bruce mentioned it with Hank there.

When I saw The Shadows in (I think) the Dominion, Tottenham Court Road in late 1981 - or possibly 1982 - Hank sang a blues about being 40. It went something like... "Well I came to London - it seemed very cold,
Well I came to London - it seemed very cold,
It might be the weather - or 'cos I'm 40 years old!"

I remember thinking...40 - that is really old. Now I'm 51 it seems quite youthful!

NB Does anyone remember Hank doing a very funny Philip Marlow-esque monologue on stage around this time?

I went to see the Shads in Cornwall in 1982. I was disappointed that the echoes were wrong.
