I agree George - the 'back stage' people did a remarkable job and the technical aspects of the show must have been mind boggling !!

At the risk of attracting the wrath of the masses on this site, although everyone has had a dig at last night's event, I thought much of it was superior and more enjoyable to me than all the Cliff/Shadows related events that I have witnessed in my lifetime, including their actual gigs that I attended, even though some of the vocals were a bit 'off' - so . . . . . where does that leave our heroes by comparison ?
The crap for me were the likes of Will I am Jesse whatever she calls herself and a few others that I wouldn't turn out to see if they were at our local pub, but in the main there were some class acts in there. ;)

I'm not a fan of Jesse J but there was nothing wrong with her performance last night, all in tune and it rocked.

Macca's voice on his first number needed a lot of help, but Live and Let Die was spectacular, wish I'd been there to see it live.

As for Cheryl Cole, she can't sing, she's hard to understand when she talks, she doesn't look good - why is she so famous? at least with some of the others it was just because they're getting a bit past their sell by date and it gets hard to hold notes when you're super annuated, mind Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey managed.

Oddly enough when the concert finished we turned over to some other chanel and there was Tom Jones at the 2011 IOW festival doing that same version of Delilah.

And if Rolf Harris was going to sing why didn't they let him do it properley.

It was a pity no Brian May, Clapton or Knopfler. I've never really liked Robbie Williams but there's no denying he can sing, he's hugely popular and he certainly wowed them last night.

As for Prince Phillip I'm not sure I would have wanted to say to him " perhaps you ought to have a cup of tea, and sit down in the warm now sir"

I thought it was an excellent concert (never heard a similar type of concert on TV where the sound has been superb) Anybody know who the gorgeous blonde playing the Les Paul, backing Annie Lennox, was?

Hi all
My thought's were Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones and Shirley were the stars. The sound was awful in fact it was terrible. The BBC can and should do better. Were they in charge of the sound? I dont know. The rest of the show was'nt a patch on the Cliff and the Shads reunion show that I saw at the Sheffield Arena.
I did see Hanks guitar tec Alan Rogan, from the reunion gig, lurking in the wings on last nights show.
Overall a big disappointment, especially the sound.
Regards from a disappointed Geoff.

Hi all,

I didn't think it was that bad given the scale of it all, but then I'm on Tramadol so in all fairness you could probably take me to see the Tweenies and I'd think they were awesome.

I thought Stevie Wonder was fantastic, Tom Jones did well and I enjoyed Annie Lennox too. As for that wee ginger bloke singing about some tart hooked on drugs (sorry, no idea of his name or the song), bit of a poor choice given the occasion? I cannot lie however, despite my floaty haze, I cringed at Cliff. And Sir Paul was a shocker too, did neither of them rehearse any of those high notes beforehand? Elton's not been a well man so under those circumstances I think he did rather well.

I shall re-watch it all when I'm less fuzzy, here's hoping the majority of you are being picky and it wasn't as bad as all that, but I think I know the answer already.

I thought the concert was brilliant. OK so there were a few bum notes but who cares it was a live event, outside and in front of some VERY important people. I have never felt so patriotic, especially when the Army Wives performed 'Sing'. Knighthoods for Gary Barlow & Gareth Malone should be in the post as I write. :D
