Love it. I will share the link with the local Hank Marvins.

Many thanks.

It might be the Polydor re-recording for the "At their very best" album (1989), I have not checked.

It would be very surprising if it were any other version, not least because of the report of Warren's re-mixing of it. Precious little remixing of the EMI version would be possible.

To me, it sounds like the re-recording done at Honeyhill with Dick Plant.
Regarding Jim's comment about re-mixing, using Logic one could easily edit the original recording in the same way, but why give EMI the royalties ? it isn't really re-mixing, it's editing.

Surely now would be a good time to re-release Apache?

Brilliant advert! I remember what happened to the Hollies 'He ain't heavy' after a Miller Lite ad in the 80's - a huge hit. Here's hoping!

I phoned Saatchi and saatchi and asked them for some info on the recording they used. They put me over to a bloke called Owen who said it was all arranged with Hank's manager who arranged for them to use Apache with a licence form from Universal. So Dave and Didier are both right, it is the Polydor recording. Owen said that the management sent them the Shadows Very Best cd and that they used that for the commercial. He said they did nothing to it except to add it to the film. So don't know what Warren did to it, if anything. Waffles if your reading this, did you remix it or not?

Owen also said its now on iTunes.

As Hank said in a radio interview a few years back ....

It's a good job they used his chosen name for cockney rhyming slang rather than his real name

I guess that after you've eaten your Mattesons snacks, you'll have a good old Bruce - Bruce Welch: Belch...
