I really love this commercial. Did you notice one tiny modernization...the "Hank's" are wearing post-Apache era eye glasses like Hank wears now, not the rectangular, Buddy Holly-shaped glasses that Hank wore in 1958-1960.

Since at least some of The Shadows are aware of this ad campaign, I wonder if we shall see any "celebrity endorsements" in future ads? If they stick to the one-liner of, "You must be Hank Marvin."...I could envision a camera-shot, at that moment, of someone other than that little kid at the kitchen table. Maybe the real Hank Marvin? Or Cliff? Show their face with a surprised expression or a blank stare, and you hear a note played with a lot of tremolo arm, twa-a-a-a-a-ang.

Cheers,
Donna

Hi All

I watched the ad tonight and i have to say i thought it was brilliant and im sure this will highlight the shads in a positive way and raise there profile with a different generation if they understand the punchline as cockney slang is dying out but i thought the dog was really good but they could have had bruce welsh type coming in as a boy then turning into himself sitting at the table shaking his head lol that would have been funny well i think so in a light hearted way .....

But by the looks of things its going to run for a while i have actually tried the product before the ad and they are not bad not good for you health wise but good anyway lol
No doubt the anoraks will say wrong shade of colour etc i say just enjoy it for what it is and at least the profile of the band is getting raised which is a good thing right .....

hi all

my son is the second boy along in the still - in the 'duel' with the kids from the 'posh school' he's 3 of 4, as you can only see the first kids' elbow in the still

obviously, with a cast of 100's, lots of them couldn't play guitar, but a fair few could - they were checked at audition, and they have the 'featured' roles - they also tuned their guitars immediately they got them and started to riff whilst hanging around

and yes - many were interested in the shadows because of the ad (oh - being old sometimes has its upside :D ) - son is currently teaching himself 'apache'

That's wonderful Florapost! Did they get to keep the guitars?

And excellent news that he's learning to play Apache too, here's hoping he's one of many and I wish them all the best of luck :)

I hope they did get to keep the guitars rather than gain a supply of Fridge Raiders - tried some today and they're vile.

Dont think a cameo role with Cliff would be apropriate after all it is Hanks moment & Cliff has stole enough limelight off him over the years!!!

What message was the dog putting forward?

It probably doesn't think too much of the Cat, Phil Tufnell! ;)
