I've got a vinyl copy of 'Est 1958' but have the Shads tracks in stereo when they came out on a CD some years ago but i've never heard 'Hank Marvin' in mono, i don't think it was released in mono on CD but i think a mono vinyl version came out as the back cover does state a catalogue number of SX but i'd quite like to hear a mono mix.

Has anyone else preordered the set? I preordered it from Leo's Den a couple of weeks ago

The release has been delayed. Leo's Den now have 16. September, dealers over here in Germany give 20. September as release date.

I received a message from Tim Chacksfield on Monday (9th) to say that he would be receiving 'proof' sets of the finished article (for a final check of the finished product) 'within a day or two'. That being the case & there being no problems then I would imagine that he will 'sign off' final approval for the set this week.

Roy - cancelling your order because an originally proposed release date has been put back for 14 days since it was originally announced? Well, it's your prerogative of course. All I can say is that months of hard work have gone into this. I know for 100% certain that Tim Chacksfield & myself were actually early on all of the various 'deadlines' imposed by Parlophone. Hence - any delays are genuinely caused by factors unknown personally to me and 'beyond our control'. The September 9th date was originally set by Parlophone - but was put back to September 16th quite a while ago. After waiting for quite a few weeks, another 7 days isn't going to make a lot of difference to me personally. I don't generally pay much attention to release dates for CDs that I'm interested in...because I find that so many proposed release dates do get changed - particualrly on the reissues scene. One of the worst recent examples was a proposed vinyl reissue LP of Joe Meek's legendary "I Hear A New World" album. Proposed dates came and went & it was over 6 months after the date which was first announced before it finally appeared. Now...that kind of delay is frustrating....

Bests....Rob :D

You're right Rob. Last year's double CD "Let Me Tell You Baby...It's Called Rock 'N' Roll!" was also delayed for a few days or couple of weeks maybe, but it was worth the wait!

Well....I now have a physical copy of the finished item, so Tim Chacksfield must now have some and must have posted mine yesterday (Tuesday). It looks great, sounds great and smells (yes.....just so incredibly new!! LOL) great!!! (Shades of that old Mackeson Stout advert with Bernard Miles...."It looks good, tastes good....and, by golly, it does you good!"). I feel sure that Tim Chacksfield will have given the proverbial 'Green Light' yesterday.....sooooo....not impossible that copies will begin to be distributed by w/c September 16th....maybe Parlophone hinted that it might be Sept 23rd in case there were potential problems this week?? I hasten to add that this is not anything official, but pure supposition on my part. For c. £20 or so (incl. P & P) this has to be one of the Shadows' bargains of recent years. 185 tracks, all remastered. Over 30 mono tracks (remastered from the master tapes) brand new to CD in the UK (the vast majority new to CD anywhere in the world), a couple of stereo rarities first - time on an (EMI) Parlophone CD (& we would have never have had a stereo "F.B.I." from master tape without Tony Hoffman's knowledge & diligence) and 3 first - time stereo mixes. Fully comprehensive & revised notes. All royalties / publishing paid. Everything restored from the original masters. I hope that no - one will be disappointed. I would think that Parlophone will now move pretty quickly on this one.

Bests....Rob :D
