I, too, would love to know how Alan Tarney is these days. I am a big fan of his work. Here is a photo from Cliff's website. Apparently, Alan came out to see Cliff during his recent tour of the UK. Alan's birthday is 19 November, so I'd like to take this opportunity to say: Happy Birthday, Alan!
I've really grown to love his work - from the early co-writing credits for Cliff to Tarney Spencer band and production work? Wanted for Cliff from early 2000s was last I heard of him and that was fantastic I thought.
I always wondered if the Shads said in interview what they thought of the irony of including ex-Shads' songs on later albums - You're the One That I Want, We Don't Talk Anymore, etc. Amazing for them to have no 1s to play from the Shads alumni.
A very, very talented man. His contributions to the various Shads albums on which he played and the Cliff stuff (much of which he wrote and produced) are magnificent. Surely it's about time he produced another album for Cliff????
