I am assuming that the previous four episodes will be broadcast over the preceding four nights. Also, presumably, the writer of this listing wasn’t aware that the Shads remained active and popular throughout the 1970s and 80s. Or perhaps the killer didn’t like their later stuff?!! Of course it may just be set in the 60s! I shall have to listen to find out…

I've read the first two of Nesser's books about the detective Van Veeteren, but I hadnit realised that The Shadows featured in that title. Quick check on the bookshelves and yes, 'The rise and fall of Flingel Bunt' does feature quick importantly in the plot. I shall say no more...

Nesser's books have many of the characteristics of Nordic noir, but are set in a fictional town, Maardam, in an unspecified country.

I notice from the latest Radio Times that the story has been broadcast only on a Saturday night, which means that part 4 is on this coming Saturday. As you say, I may have to read the book...

I listened to it on Saturday night and was pleased, but not entirely surprised, to hear 'The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt' used as the opening and closing theme music.

Has anyone here recorded the whole serial off-air, please?
