Pipeline Convention 2014

Easter Sunday will once again see Pipeline Magazine's merry band take over the Metropolitan Police Sports Club at Bushey for the annual instrumental convention.

I think I'm correct in saying that none of the bands have played the Convention before, though there will be some familiar faces on stage, plus plenty more in the audience and manning the retail stalls.

This year's lineup is pan-European, with the show being headlined by the Jumping Jewels Revival Band, featuring Hans van Eijk, original lead guitarist from Dutch legends The Jumping Jewels; the band also includes Henk Doove Jr from Pipeline veterans the UB Hank Guitar Band and Paul Selier who brought The Classics to the 2003 Convention. A must for fans to the Fender sound!

From Belgium, Los Venturas promise 60s psychedelic sounds, and Joeland Plus will provide a wide selection of instrumentals. Link Grey and the Dark Country add a touch of rock 'n' roll, and those who love the early sound of the Shadows will be well catered for by The Niteshades.

More details including price and time from http://www.pipelinemag.co.uk/ - which also has details of issue 93 of the magazine, which has plenty for Shads fans this time.

Joeland are sensational - a live appearance is going to be something to hear...

Looking forward to Joeland and the JJ Revival Band in particular, but a strong lineup as usual.

Train tickets now booked.

Just bumping this back to the top...

...especially as the previous posts in the thread didn't contain the date...

Well, senor Jim, it's not too difficult to find out when Easter Sunday falls... 8-)>

I've done my bit and got another member of the band to come dahn Sarf for the first time, so come on Pipeliners, let's make it a sellout.

Bit disappointed about the Mo Foster event, but cheered up now: it'll be "An evening with Iain Purdon" instead!!

Less than two weeks to the Convention. If it's not in your diaries, it should be!

Saw Joeland plus at the Tilburg Fan Meeting.

Pretty good - you have to hear Miss Marple's Theme to believe it!

And there's Joel's Tommy Emmanuel-inspired playing on his Maton electro-acoustic...

Hi Jim,
it was very nice to meet you and Alan in Tilburg.
We look forward to our reunion with you and Miss Marple to be playing in " their home " on Pipeline Event 2014.
Have a nice evening, Ulle

One of the rituals of the Pipeline Convention is the recce, a visit to the venue ahead of the day to check all the facilities - the stage, the seating, the lighting, etc.

Pictured earlier today is Pipeline supremo 'Big Al' Taylor playing air guitar to check the air.

Shadows fans will of course have noted that Al's air guitar is an authentic shade of Fiesta Red.

Thought Al would have tried out his Hawaiian shirt at the same time...
