The Honeycombs using Burns guitars

Postby Fenderman » 21 Jan 2014, 01:15

Here's the Honeycombs using Burns guitars (although slightly different to the Shadows) and of course, featuring the lovely Honey Lantree on drums.

Still a good track after 50 years!

Yes, the good old Bisons, and produced by Joe Meek... the recording that is!

That bomp bomp bomp sound reappeared on hideous dance records in recent years - and I expect that they thought it was "new"!!

Gratuitous bit of name-dropping: my son's best friend's mother is Honey Lantree!

It might be a gratuitous bit of name-dropping, but you win hands down. I hope she is well, I was a big fan in the '60s.

Did they (or Joe Meek) get the idea from the DC5's Bit And Pieces? ;)

I heard that Honey went back o her previous occupation of hairdresser but not sure if that's true. Anyway, I wish her well and thank her for the music which I still listen to (and play) today.

With Bisons, these are the Sheratons (Martin Murray, Alan Ward, Dennis Dalziel (D'Ell), John Lantree, Chris Chaplin) from c. October 1963, the nascent version of the Honeycombs.
