Exactly 50 years ago, the Beatles came into our lives and changed our music. That was true for me and I suspect millions others. For us now into the Ventures and Shadows, the day the anniversary celebrates is significant for that was probably the day when the music of our heroes fell from mainstream.

Just before leaving for their first US tour, the Beatles performed at the Paris Olympia between january 16th and february 4th. I was there. They only played eight tunes during the first part of the show, as their contract had been signed long before !
Top of the bill was french singer Sylvie Vartan.

Later the same year I also saw the Shadows at the same Paris Olympia, discovering their then new Burns guitars.

You are so lucky to have seen those shows, Didier. 1964 was really a fork in the road. The Shadows had switched to Burns, and the Ventures to Mossrites.
