There are reasonabley good quality video/dvd of most of these clips and just for completeness, not all of the shows mentioned are from the BBC.
It's a nice list thougth.

A few comments:

I have a feeling that 1962 appearance where they play FBI was filmed at a youth club being visited by Princess Margaret. I suspect that this was shot for the BBC news. A real shame if it was mute footage and the soundtrack of them playing Apache was overlaid. I have a feeling they performed The Young Ones with Cliff as well.

In 1979 they appeared on Lena Martell's Music Show for BBC1 performing Cavatina - this may be the one listed as 'unknown'.

I think that 'Thing-Me-Jig' from 1983 was on the Val Doonican Show.

I had no idea that they played 'Pulaski' on Pebble Mill. This I'd like to see. A shame it wasn't a hit.

Sadly, I suspect that most of the shows from the 1960s no longer exist - either never recorded in the first place or wiped (along with so many episodes of Doctor Who). A shame that Top of the Pops didn't start until 1964, as this inconveniently just misses the Shadows 'Golden Years' - when they WOULD have been on the show almost every week!!!!

P.S. The December 31st show from 1983 is a hoot - partly because various members of the band look to be rather 'refreshed' to say the least. Well it was New Years Eve...

I'm pretty sure that the Youth Club opening with Princess Margaret in attendance, was a Pathe news clip. The original with FBI still exists, but the clip with the Apache overdub is more commonly used by broadcasters.

Was the Pulaski clip with Sally James hosting PM? if so, it also exists in good quality.

I'm sure Bruce tried to do something a number of years back with these clips which were held in the TV archives but the cost was prohibitive in trying to compile a simple dvd, so nothing happened, pity.

"After Ten Fellas...Ten"!!!

Just had a quick look at the list...they were on the Marti Caine Show around autumn 1980 - I've a feeling they played Mozart Forte on that occasion (with embarrassing in and out knee movments!!) I'm sure lots of the other "unknown shows" can be identified by regular viewers of the boards!

From memory (ha!) they also played Argentina on the Lena Martell show (which was, I recall, filmed in Glasgow...)

This fondly-remembered ATV show was billed simply as "The Shadows", was broadcast on the ITV network on a Friday at 10:00pm, still exists in audio form and contained the following (live performances are underscored):

Nivram (studio version over intro credits)
Wonderful Land (live in TV studio - no guitar echo)
Daybreak (live in TV studio) - Frank Ifield
She Taught Me To Yodel (live in TV studio) - Frank Ifield
Perfidia (live in TV studio - no guitar echo)
Kinda Cool (studio version - played over commercial break captions)
Bo Diddley (v) (live in TV studio - no guitar echo)
I Remember You (live in TV studio) - Frank Ifield
Never On Sunday (live in TV studio - on bouzoukis)
It'll be Me mimed - Cliff Richard and Shadows
Guitar Tango (live in TV studio - on electric guitars)

Wonderful Land and Guitar Tango featured the Jack Parnell Orchestra (ATV's house band), as did the Frank Ifield songs.

An earlier appearance on Jim'll Fix It was in response to a request to get Cliff and the Shadows back together again: they cheated by having The Shadows sing Run, Billy Run with Cliff on backing vocals...

Some very interesting stuff coming in.

I would LOVE to see that Jim'll Fix It with the Shads singing 'Run Billy Run' - although the song is not too good!!! Never heard of that one before! I remember watching the Lena Martell show at my Grandma and Grandpa's house in Cambridge!!!

I am assuming that, sadly, the Maroc 7 performance that Rob Bradford alludes to in his notes for The Complete Singles box set no longer exists? If so, what a terrible shame. Does anyone have a date for this performance or the previously mentioned Jim'll Fix It one...?????
