Shadows/Drifters in Pantomime in 1959?

Hi, everyone. I found this photo while doing a Yahoo Image search on the Shadows. It would appear to be pantomime, and judging by Bruce's and Jet's guitars (Vega and Framus?), I think it's from about 1959. Any idea of what this is?

I have CDs and a few vinyls of the Shadows panto stuff like Cinderella, Aladdin, etc. but I never saw the performances...plus I thought those were more from the Rostill era. This is Jet and Tony, and with their old guitars. I love the fiesta red clothing. What is it?

Sorry about the glare on the photo. That's the way the original image was, and if it's possible to remove the glare, then I don't know how to do so.

Thank you for any answers or clues you might have.

Cheers,
Donna

Hi Donna.
I believe that at Christmas 1959. The Shadows and Cliff appeared in "Babes In the Wood" at the Globe Theatre in a Northern town called Stockton On Tees. This provided the title for "Stars fell on Stockton "http://youtu.be/R_f1CcXBIM0 which was the "B" side of "Wonderful Land. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much for the information. I did a Yahoo and Google search on the name of the show, and I found this advert:

I never knew there was Drifters or Shadows pantomime other than Aladdin and Cinderella. Thanks again.

Cheers,
Donna

Hi Donna,
The panto ran at two places:
24. December 1959 - 9. January 1960 at the Stockton Globe Theatre (as your advert states) and
11. January 1960 - 16. January 1960 at the Regal Theatre in Hull.

The things they had to do before the Beatles! Jet clearly loving every minute of it - not.

There appears to be no sign of the Jazzmaster and Precision by that time!

Thought Jet's Framus was sunburst, he has a white one here?

Yes, it was presumably one of several instruments? I don't recall seeing early pictures of anything other than sunburst.

Ah, the trails of trying to be a cool rockin' band back then!

.....a couple of chart songs with Cliff, and the management wanted to turn you into 'all-round entertainers'....sorry, wash my mouth out.....
