I hope David will forgive me in continueing the Alan Jones saga! When I worked in local Government one of the initial training sessions we did was "Chinese Whispers" For those of you not familiar with them, its where one person is given a piece of information and passes it on verbally to the next person. By the time the info had reached the last person it had probably had twenty variations, bits added and bits forgotton. Generally the last in line got a completely different story than the first person. Whoever started the rumour may have done so in a completely innocent way - he or she may have heard of the death of another Alan Jones - Im sure there are many around Yorkshire and the UK. I heard a few weeks ago that Alan Jones was being interviewed on SKY! It was of course Alan Jones the former F1 driver. There is a well known Aussie radio presenter with the same name. Ive been told and Im sure others have that friends have died, only to find it was someone else with the same name. Im sure this incident was the outcome of Chinese Whispers and people associate information given to be the person they know!

Many years ago a friend of mine was astonished to find that lots of people thought he had died! What had happened was that a man with exactly the same name as him had been found dead in the mud underneath the Clifton Suspension Bridge. By an amazing coincidence the dead man was the same age as my friend, came from the same part of Bristol ... and even had the same doctor!

I rest my case!
In my youth I worked with a guy who on regular occassions would come into work and tell all who would listen the latest deaths in the town. Quit a few of his deceased were seen shopping around the town in later weeks! Seems he often got hold of the wrong end of the stick!
