From Brian's Facebook page today:
At 4:00 am this morning my garage block and store room burned down!
All my old vintage drums gone!
All my old scores gone!
Photos gone!
50 year collection of jazz vinyl gone!
I'm in shock and won't get the full picture until daylight.
More later.......
I'm a broken man.

I am really, really upset to hear this. I have Brian's number(s) but I shall resist the urge to call him as I suspect this is the last thing he will want at this moment.
I am very saddened by this indeed.
I'll leave it there for the moment and make a couple of calls...

That has to be one of the most dreadful things that can happen, I was privileged to be in Brian's store room at Honeyhill and saw the stuff for myself, devastating news.

That's dreadful. I can only begin to imagine what a huge loss this is.
You can be insured to the hilt but what's irreplaceable is irreplaceable.
All sympathy.

...Yes. It's the photos, the scores and the drums that are irreplaceable. Fifty years of memories and collectables cannot be easily replaced if at all.
I am genuinely saddened about this, especially as he has been my primary inspiration since 1977.
Just emailed a couple of mutual acquaintances/friends, but nothing back as yet.
A bleak day.

Hi All
It is indeed a tragedy, I don't know how I would feel if all of my memorabilia was lost to a fire. The only positive is that no one was hurt in the fire. Chin up Brian, it could have been much worse.

Awful. Just awful. I can partly sympathise with Brian speaking as someone who lost many personal possessions following ar devastating freak flash flood in 2007. But...what a priceless treasure trove of music history.....gone forever. What is there to say?? We can only offer our sympathies to one of the greatest musicians and one of the friendliest, most genuine people you could ever meet. The only positive is that no one was injured in the blaze.

This is terrible news, i suppose if you're insured that 's something but you can't replace the things like the photos, scores and vintage drums (which i guess will have a lot of memories for him).
So sad to hear of this. I can't begin to imagine how he must be feeling.
