Hello Brian,

Yes, in the Village not too far from the former RAF Wickenby. The Air Cadet Squadron that I commanded a (good) few years back had the honour to "line the route" from Lincoln to Wickenby when the 12 & 626 Squadron "Icarus" Memorial was inaugurated by the Veterans of "The Wickenby Register". In it's fairly short life as an operational Bomber Station, nearly 1100 aircrew lost their lives flying from there.
Wickenby is just up the road from where I now live, and is still an active "General Aviation" airfield - still using two of the original (but much shorter!) wartime runways. Excellent Cafe and Museum in the former Control Tower - well worth a visit if you're in the area.
We're very much looking forward to our gig at "The Broadbent" - a former Methodist Chapel, converted by actor Jim Broadbent's father back in the '70's into a fully functional but compact Theatre.

Regards
Paul.

Well, our dress (or, more correctly "undress" - as two of our members were in shorts to counter the heat! ) rehearsal last night in Sheffield went well, so the five of us are really looking forward to our charity Gig at The Broadbent Theatre this coming Saturday night. There's even an ouside chance that the Guitarists will be in tune  (only joking, honest!)

Shadows fans have quite a lot of choice during the next few days, as a number of Bands are playing. Most of these seem to be of the "Charity" kind, and it's good to see members of the ShadowMusic community supporting their chosen "good causes" and community enterprises  . I know from recent experience that there are those on here who have reservations about charity performances, but the fact remains that small live performance venues need all the help they can get these days. The world would be a much poorer place (IMHO) if only the "Arena - style" venues survive!

We're looking forward to seeing any of you there (Snarford Road, Wickenby, Lincoln LN3 5AW Tel: 01673 885500) and as Pete has already said, ticket sales are going well so check before travelling!

Regards
Paul.
