Interesting couple of articles in the current issue.

There's a review of the Burns Custom Elite Signature Marvin & the Club Series Cobra. The Marvin's zero fret is mentioned - "pretty much guarantee a great first-position action and a zingy and chiming response from open strings and they minimise the opportunity for pitch errors between fretted and unfretted notes". Is this a problem on some guitars? Never noticed it on mine.

Also featured is "25 Mods to improve your Strat". Most of these will be familiar to members of this site, but there are some useful photos and illustrations.

One I have never seen before is removing the spring cover. Quote says "this is a source of contention because some claim to hear the effect of a removed spring cover while others can't hear any change at all". I don't know if this is a wind-up, but I do recall a photo of Richie Blackmore with no spring cover on his Strat - I thought it was just to make changing a string easier?

Kindest regards

Christopher
