For non-French French speakers, Jukebox magazine's November issue has an article on the 50th anniversary of "Cliff & Les Shadows"

Agreed! More help please George. I do have a little ability in French & despite 'trawling around' (very interesting site) - I couldn't find any reference to Cliff / Shadows. So, er, could you kindly give us 'chapter & verse' instructions please?

Cheers!

Too late, it was on the november issue, now replaced by the December issue. Here is the front cover of the november issue :

With a 5 pages article inside with their story, some photos and a discography (this magazine is mainly intended for record collectors). On the back cover of the same magazine, you can see an announcement for a concert which took place in Paris for the 25th anniversary of the magazine. The "stars" were no one else than "Guitar Express" with singer "Ricky Norton" :

The Jukebox mag cover uses another of those great EMI photos from the collection used for record sleeves, probably from the Angus McBean sessions. I wonder how one can buy or even view good-quality prints of some of the EMI studio or album sleeve photos? EMI's confusing series of websites doesn't seem to include access to a photo archive. I'm sure some enthusiasts would be willing to buy a few prints to improve the EMI profit graph.

Interesting to see Jet with his 6-string bass. This is the first photo I've seen of the early Shadows showing Jet with his 6-string bass.

Thats right Bojan. The original cover of the French EP shows a little better.
