I was wondering if Bruce played on the original recordings of Slaughter on tenth avenue and Chitty chitty bang bang, i know these were recorded in December 1968 and he left that month but did he appear on these recordings?

There were various pieces of music recorded around the same time - after Bruce had nominally left the group in late 1968. Some of them were eventually issued as by The Shadows and others released as being by Hank B Marvin.
It has been revealed that these recordings were made as contributions to a mooted album of film themes and incidental music (whether by The Shadows or as a Hank solo venture is not absolutely clear). The titles may have included Slaughter On 10th Avenue ("Shadows"), Midnight Cowboy ("Hank B Marvin") and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ("Shadows").
Of course, Hank's first solo LP featured several film themes which might well have been part of the original movie-music-album plan: Born Free, Lara's Theme (from "Dr Zhivago"), The Big Country and The Windmills Of My Mind (from "The Thomas Crown Affair").
Lara's Theme is an interesting one. The Shadows never released (or, it seems, made) a studio recording of it, but it was recorded for BBC "live" radio appearances around the turn of 1967/1968. Bruce is on the BBC version, but not the later HBM recording.

They also played Lara's Theme on the Val Doonican show on TV - along with Puttin' On The Style. The Shadows' film theme project would also probably have included Theme from "Exodus" which was part of their live set in 1969 and was one of the Sankei Hall recordings.

The assumption has always been that Hank played the rhythm guitar parts on "Slaughter On Tenth Avenue", "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" and all tracks from the "Shades Of Rock" album, but it has never been confirmed. Does anyone have more information about this? I know that Hank's solo recordings from 1969 and 1970 featured session musicians on rhythm guitar (Vic Flick and I think Alan Parker), so maybe they also feature on the aforementioned Shadows recordings.
