Just watched the BBC 4 compilation.
Although its nice to see the Shadows on Crackerjack performing FBI, they never show the other performance
of the Frightened City from the same show in May61.
I would guess they have lost it, missing presumed wiped, but of course it has turned up on unofficial Cliff/Shads
DVD compilations and on You Tube!!!
Nice to see however they found a rare performance of The Yardbirds Over Under Sideways Down from 1966, so
maybe there is hope yet!!!

As far as I know, the Frightened City clip DOES exist in the BBC archive...

The program appeared to be quite restricted in the material it was allowed to use- overall not very impressive.

I found the programme quite depressing; an awful lot of the songs they played were just so miserable. More to the point, they could hardly be described as great riffs.

Where were Day Tripper, Smoke on the Water, Hey Mr Tambourine Man, Last Train to Clarksville, etc...?

A badly researched, badly made programme.

Yes not up to much overall considering the title but at least it was Messrs McCartney and Stewart free!!!
Some of Rods loyal followers don't appear to have been overwhelmed by his performance at the Commonwealth
Games Opening last night, at least on facebook comments I have seen.

Yeah, I'm genuinely surprised that no-one has mentioned it! Not only did it feature Hank, playing FBI and Apache, but Bruce as well and some clips of the Shads from the Burns era. I watched it and thought it was OK. Some interesting points raised here and there. I posted a TV guide snippet elsewhere on the forum...

Tom, Smoke on the Water was included - maybe you'd given up by the time it came on! They described it as a riff even a child could play

Oops, my bad Tom! I was referring to the BBC programme called "The Joy of the Guitar Riff" which does include SOTW
