Please don't touch.

Do you let other people touch your guitars? I have my Stratocaster on a stand in my living room & when guests come around mostly all of them without fail head straight towards it with arms outstretched, & I have to say LEAVE IT! In a loud voice. This sometimes causes a great deal of sulky behaviour from them, mostly the blokes. I just don't like people touching my gear.......Am I being unreasonable?

So why do you leave it in your living room when you know you have Guests coming and you know they are going to want to touch it?
Is it so you can shout at them?
Do they stay long?
Perverse!

I have it in my room because as well as a guitar it is a nice piece of decor & looks nice........I believe lots of people have guitars on stands or in cases in their homes.

You should not leave it on show as it could cause a problem you don't want. I had a Gretsch Tennessean in my lounge when my daughter brought 2 year old grandson round . Went to put kettle on and he managed to bash it with something causing a few small marks - never again left on show.
I have no problem with people touching my musical equipment providing they are careful but it is all kept in my den.
You seem to want to show it off - look but don't touch which is controversial or may it clear before they enter the room

Yes you are probably right & I certainly wouldn't have it on show with children about. To me a strat is a thing of beauty & I like to have it on show for my own satisfaction. I noted on another thread ( change of guitar) that in an interview Duane eddy said he lent his guitar to some fellow musicians & when he got it back it was covered in scratches & dinks. Some people just dont know how to treat things gently.

Yes you are, if you don't want it touching, move it. Or is that too difficult to work out.

It really is total Hubris, IHMO
Robbo is spot on but I guess you won't move it simply because you want to show off and offend your Guests.

Hi Humdrum, Maybe get a nice display cabinet with a lock on it and the guitar will become a conversation piece, regards Gary
