I was going to build my own unit but by the time you have purchased the kit and boxed it up, anyone using one of these, any thoughts?

I got one a few weeks ago as I wanted a compact pedal design. I am delighted with it. I was tempted with the Catlinbread Echorec but when I saw the eTap2HW in a small pedal format I thought I would get one. I like the Echomatic 2 classic on this pedal as you can set the head levels for 123 separately to head 4. The size of the pedal is great and in a nice sturdy metal box. Been a long time coming having a proper shadows echo at this price in a stompbox format !

One of my two MagicStomps has been giving me trouble for the last couple of weeks. Yamaha tell me they're not allowed to repair it, but they gave me the name of a man who maybe can. So this might well be a good replacement...

Not sure, though, whether to order the stmp-version or go for an Eccamatic...

I got the eccamatic too jim might get his valve job at some point. This pedal is nice as it is pocket sized and light which was the attraction for me

I used the same power supply I had for your eTap box Ecca and the Stanley Effects one was just as noisy so it is the power supply that is the noise problem. I am sure if you were building a foot pedal like this I would have had one off you.

The display is garbled. The sound is alright, but it's difficult to know which patch you're on.

Yamaha's technical staff reckoned it's a control chip which has gone off value and can be relatively easily fixed - for about £70...

Had one delivered today.
The echoes certainly nicely done, although the instruction sheet could have been checked for spelling errors.
Doing a quick run through with I would say that the suggested settings are a good start for some tunes but wouldnt take them as gospel.
It runs off a 9 volt battery so no mains ripple.
I was very impressed with Dave Robinsons examples on the etap site, so this shows what the unit is capable of.
Piet is to be congratulated for putting together such a great little piece of technology.
