Hi All,
Last Wednesday we saw Jimmy Jermain with The Rapiers at Shanklin Theatre, in "The Rock 'n' Roll Years" show, a Cliff and the Shadows tribute.
I,ve seen The Rapiers many times, but not Jimmy Jemain.
It was a really good show.
The Rapiers opened both halfs of the show with Shadow numbers, then backed Jimmy (Cliff!) on the rest.
It was all Cliffs 50's and 60's hits only.
A great show, I would recommend going to see it.
Tim

I have seen The Rapiers before and have seen them performing with Jimmy Jemain. There are really, really good musically. However, I find it quite disturbing that Jimmy Jemain even tries to emulate Cliff Richard's way of speaking and his mannerisms in interviews, as if he is a duplicate of the real Cliff Richard.

I had the pleasure of seeing The Rapiers and Jimmy Jermain a couple of years ago.
It was a first class show and I'd recommend anybody to go and see them.

Hi Tim, yes this is the best and nearest you will get to seeing and hearing those sounds of the shadows AND Cliff in the early 60s. The fact that Jimmy talks a lot like Cliff is because he talks like that naturally. He may emphasise some of the phrasing when fronting the show, but many people cannot believe that it sounds so close to Cliff.
I was lucky enough last year to stand in for Neal when he had his heart op and we did a couple of gigs with Jimmy - they were fantastic and, more to the point, ran like clockwork and so professional. I did this show last year at the Shanklin Theatre and the reception was incredible; one of the best gigs I've done in years and in a great theatre.
The sound the boys get now (they have made some subtle adjustments to their gear) is amazing and unless you hear it live you would not believe it. They have just released a new CD so check it out!
If there was a new independent event like the old Shadowmania, and the Rapiers, along with Jimmy, were top of the bill it would do more for Shadows music than all of the others put together. Slick, professional, seamless, entertaining, fantastic live sounds and well worth the money. Like Tim says, they are worth seeing in this fabulous show. Something for our ladies too!
