Lakeside Ramblings from me....
Having just spent the last two days involved with driving to and from Lakeside on the Friday and Saturday, Playing guitar, Singing Talking and watching a great show on the Saturday I'm shattered.....But what a fabulous weekend of music......OK it's not Shadowmania because that is Bruce' baby, but lakeside still managed to put a good show on for us all, (thank god) without going into depth about who played what and who was the best, I found the whole show to move along at a steady pace, of course we all have our favorite tunes we like to hear and sometime how we enjoy a band depends on them and not so much on the players of the band.....With lakeside it stands out how who the audience are enjoying by the amount of conversation you can hear during the show !!....Having owned most of the Shadow Workout backing track albums it was nice to see and hear Ian McCutcheon playing with his band , t's amazing how a backing track can be so cold / clinical against the same tunes played by the same person but with the warm feel of a band......I must say the Everly tribute went down very well with the lakeside audience singing along with every tune.......Not forgetting The Undercover Shadows with `Little B` from drummer Mark Winter and also The Shad Tones who both put on a great show, we come to Alan Jones's Apache Mania with Brian locking making a guest appearance .....My first thought was how quickly we had nearly got to the end of the show, which proved to me how much I had enjoyed the day........I must give credit where credit is due and this was a five star performance by all the player and the set list was well thought out... Dave Eyers, Adrian Fountain ,Danial Martin and Alan Jones worked hard for the hour plus spot wit a good mixture of Shads Tunes , Rock and Roll and the Country with the appearance of Dan's Telecaster, what a refreshing change to hear that played at a Shads do.......I turned and watched Bruce Welch enjoying it also....The sound from the `Little Walter` Amps was superb.. It has to be said that Danial Martin's playing and sound were spot on with vocals to match, he has become the full package.......And yes Lakeside will be putting it on again next year......
