Hi
Can anyone suggest a reliable programme for downloading You Tube Videos?
There seems to be a noted problem with Real Networks for the updated Real Player Cloud
versions i.e. Downloader Message Box displaying incomplete download ,refresh and try again till
you are blue in the face!!!
Every time there is a Real Player upgrade there is this problem, especially on the free version.
I don't see the point of a full purchased version, as I make only occasional video/audio downloads.
Any advice appreciated

I asked the same question a week or so ago and Jim Nugent suggested Freemake. I did download it and have made several dvd's, which have turned out fine. Here's the link. http://www.freemake.com/

Yes, as Alan says, Freemake does seem to be the easiest program to use for keeping YouTube videos, once you have downloaded it

While the Youtube video is playing or paused you simply hover the mouse pointer over the picture and rightclick, then click "copy URL".

Then exit Youtube, open Freemake, click "paste URL" then download. You are offered several formats - I usually use Mpeg4.

Thanks for this Alan, have installed the Freemake DVD programme and made a test disc from
existing video downloads stored in the library.
This plays ok on a normal DVD player.
Haven't tried their You Tube Downloader yet.

i downloaded this program only trouble was it dumped 3 others i didnt want one was difficult to get rid of. my fault no doubt but just keep an eye on it when downloading. peter ps program works ok.

A lot of downloads now seem to download other programs, just go into uninstall programs and you can get rid of any unwanted ones, simples lol.

I think if you use the Mozilla Firefox browser under Win7 it offers add-ons that work well as YouTube downloaders.

I use the Wondershare YouTube Downloader on my Mac and it's a breeze. There is a Win7 version of it (I discovered by googling) but I haven't tried it.

Thanks to all for advice and comments. Yes unfortunately unwanted add ons can appear after a programme
is added like clean ups etc, join the Highway Patrol today with your loaded delete weapon!!!

First use Firefox instead of Internet Explorer, then you can get a free download add-on called DownloadHelper, in most cases it works well.
But I have encountered a very few times where it didn't work (looks like there was some kind of protection), then I used Replay Media Catcher (not free) with success.

In many cases when you download a program, you are proposed additional softwares as an implicit option, you just have to unclick them to avoid installing them.
