Concert set list order

Your thoughts, please...

if you had a cassette recording of The Shadows (with John Farrar) playing live at the Southport Theatre in 1975, and if you didn't know which side of the cassette was recorded the earlier, which would you say was the first part of the concert? The tape contents are:

A.
[incomplete speech by John Farrar]
Foot Tapper
Apache
Dance On
Let Me Be The One
Nivram
Wonderful Land
Music Makes My Day
Silvery Rain
My Home Town
(incomplete)

B. Lady Of The Morning (incomplete)
Lonesome Mole
Black Eyes
Turn Around And Touch Me
Guitar Tango
Faithful
Tiny Robin
Marmaduke
(incomplete)

It's going to take some phenomenal audio-restoration, mind...

I would say 'B' is the first part, the reason being I can't see the show starting with an announcement from John Farrar. :)

I don't have any reason to believe that John Farrar's incomplete introduction of Foot Tapper was the beginning of the concert.

Perhaps I ought to have made that clearer.

Hi Jim,

I have only the set list of the concert at Croydon Fairfield Halls from 9. March 1975:

The Rise And Fall Of Flingel Bunt – Man Of Mystery – Lady Of The Morning – Lonesome Mole – Turn Around And Touch Me – Guitar Tango – Faithful – Tiny Robin – Marmaduke – Foot Tapper – Apache – interval – Dance On – Nivram – Wonderful Land – Music Makes My Day – Silvery Rain – My Home Town – The Frightened City – Honourable Puff-Puff – Somewhere – Lucille / Rip It Up / Blue Suede Shoes – F.B.I.

As the Southport concert was on 17. May the small changes could be explained. Anyway, it looks that Dave is right that Side B is the start of the concert.

Hope this helps.

That's great, Uli.

Many thanks.

At least I know now which order to splice them together!

Hi Jim,

I would be interested to know what John says, if it's anything more illuminating than "and now we're going to play Foot Tapper..."

Thanks,

Andrew

I read somewhere, that The Shadows (Hank, Bruce, Brian and John Farrar) were augmented on these concerts not only by Alan Tarney on bass guitar, but also Graham Todd on keyboards (piano and synthesizers?). Is that correct?

I wasn't at that Southport concert (I was working elsewhere that evening), but I am reliably informed that the line-up was Hank, Bruce, Brian, John Farrar and Alan Tarney. No keyboards. John used an effects device known as a "Synthi Hi-Fli" on his guitar on tunes like Wonderful Land and Guitar Tango.

Hi

I was at Southport that night and there were no keyboards at all. previously, at Lakeside and I think Fairfield Hall Croydon, John Fiddy was on Keyboards.

Regards
