Stingray

Can someone tell me please what guitar was Stingray recorded/played on and was it down tuned to A ?

Key of A major, and played in standard tuning - on a Fender Bass VI...

Standard tuning for the Bass VI being one octave down from a normal guitar, of course.

There is also a brief double tracked section at about 1'20" where what sounds like a Marvin is also present.

I saw The Shadows playing Stingray at The Leeds Odeon cinema in 1965 when Hank changed to The Fender V1 bass guitar but I have never seen him play one on TV or any video clips, do any exist of him playing one.

Hank played Stingray live on TV in mid-1965 (Sunday Night At The London Palladium) with the Bass VI, but I doubt the clip still exists.

Ecca does a convincing version of Stingray using a Roland GR55 pedal with a strat. Honest Guv !
