Natalacio Lima, of the Los Indios Tabajaras instrumental duo, has died.

The duo's big hit "Maria Elena" reached number five in the UK charts in the 1963.

That is sad news. The Los Indios Tabajaros single of Maria Elena was an absolute classic, opening the eyes of many pop and rock guitarists to the fact that there are other ways to play, without necessarily being a virtuoso. Mind you, the B-side (Nato's own composition Jungle Dream) did require a degree of virtuosity.

RIP Nato (one of Chet's favourite players).

Sad news indeed, I have, and still do play Maria Elena since I first heard it all those years ago.
RIP

A very sad news indeed,

Los Indios Tabajaras were among the first guitar players I had listen to, and since then I always loved their sound and playing, really beautiful.

'ME' by Los Indios is probably one of the best known instrumentals over the years to many people of many persuasions. Legends.

RIP Natalico.

Dont suppose any of you guys have the dots for this piece. Ive a feeling that I'd bought the sheet music at the time when it first came out way back then, (but if I did it'll be long gone) If so, I'd appreciate it if someone would send me a copy of the original 8-) If not, I'll just have to get the old ears into action and copy it from the Youtube recording :?
