If I want I could match the amount of different guitars easily and more, but I'm not a show of...... ;)
Maybe this bozo hired some guitars who knows?
On the first look, he's promoted as a real pro....but IMHO I find him a mediocre player....

Tin hat in place :D

Cheers Rob

A bit harsh, Rob, I thought it sounded pretty good and there''s only so much you can do with Telstar! :)

It's Martin Cilia, lead guitarist of The Atlantics, the Australian band. Sorry, Rob, not someone I would describe as mediocre. He's also written some great Shadows pastiches - check them out

GAS. Guitar Aquisition Syndrome. Something I suffer from. There is no known cure, although many wives have searched in vain.
Below is a link to an interesting and funny animation on the subject:-

Well may you say "tin hat in place" Mr. Aartsen.

Far from being a "bozo" and "... hired some guitars" and "mediocre player" let me set you straight!!!

I first met Martin several years ago both as a member of The Atlantics and a guest at Melbourne's ShadOz.

I can vouch and so will many other people (if you bother to read people's comments) that he is as far removed from your comments as you are from reality.

He is generous with his time to all and sundry and, speaking from my own personal experience on Sunday 4th January pleased to meet guitar and instrumental fans from anywhere in the world.

I had the pleasure of introducing a guest from Dublin to Martin at his studio and in no time at all a jam was underway for a good length of time and then we all went out to dinner together.

Generous to a fault I will not stand by and see Martin subjected to stupid comments!!!

You better start ducking now Mr.Aartsen, I'm sure there are plenty of others out there willing to back me up.

Ian Harris.

Yes, Martin is a class act! have a listen to more of his music and I'm sure that you will agree.

Rob,
Oh dear ...
It's not a tin hat you need on this occasion but a big spoon to help with eating some "humble pie". I can lend you mine if need be.

I also have had the pleasure of spending time (on several occasions) with Martin Cilia and totally agree with Ian ( 362436 ). Not only is he generous with sharing his knowledge and experience, an exceptional Rock/Surf guitarist (probably Australia's best) and composer, but equally at home with Jazz and just about any other guitar style required. He is a PRO guitarist and musician and one of the few interested AND able to publicly champion instrumental guitar music.

Martin also has no need to hire or borrow guitars and his vintage collection includes a 1954 Fender Strat (S.N 0256) as well as two 1961's and a 1963 Strat.
He is happy to cite The Shads as very influential in his early development.

As the English might say, an apology for your comments would not be inappropriate.

cheers
George

Martin Cilia is an excellent guitarist, either with the Atlantics or as a solo artist. Here is an example of what he does :
