Specs Appeal gig in aid of ICP support
What's ICP, I hear you ask?
Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) is also known as obstetric cholestasis (OC). It is a liver disorder which occurs during pregnancy, and which has been known to be diagnosed at any time from 8 weeks onwards. It affects 1 in 140 pregnant women, and has been reported to be associated with an increased risk of spontaneous premature birth, fetal distress and stillbirth. Some of the main symptoms are intense itching that affects the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, and can easily be dismissed due to lack of awareness of the condition.
This condition is of personal interest to me as my stepdaughter, Jo, was affected by it whilst expecting her second baby and was a cause of great worry to all of us. Fortunately, the symptoms were recognised and the condition was managed at an early stage and young Thomas arrived safely on 8th April 2014.
The gig is on Saturday 28th March at Seaford Constitutional Club, a venue which some of you may be familiar with, as it was the venue for the Sussex Shadows Club.
Tickets are £8, and are available from the band's website, http://www.specsappealband.co.uk on the 'Forthcoming Dates' page.
