Acoustic version of Apache

Postby swadders » 20 Feb 2015, 18:50

A few weeks ago me and my girlfriend were out in Leeds and stopped off at a bar for a couple of drinks. These guys with acoustic guitars were taking requests off the punters, so we fired a few their way. No matter what era or band they were asked to play, they nailed it! They also did an acoustic version of Apache which was great as The Shadows were my dad's favourite band. We were only going to stay for the one drink, but three hours later they were still playing and we were still drinking! It turns out they also do weddings so I took their number just in case!

Fantastic!
It's great when you see bands, acts, duo's, or whatever, do that, bearing in mind that some musicians only know what they know, and can't improvise for love nor money! That's why I love jazz.
Ooops! Wrong forum!

It certainly is, Steve! There are so many bands that stick to a setlist and then play for a standard 45 minutes. I've never seen any pub bands play for three hours and invite song requests! Talking about jazz, I think they even played 'That old devil called love', which could be said to be a token jazz song!!
