Found a few photos of the Shadows (and Cliff) when they appeared on The Billy Cotton Show. Seeing as there is no pipeline convention this year, and it's looking a bit cloudy out, I thought I'd post them to cheer everyone up!
HAPPY EASTER!!!

Early 1963, if I recall. The Shadows played Foot Tapper and Cliff sang Summer Holiday and Bachelor Boy. Maybe another song as well.

Interesting. Of course Billy Cotton's son had a big part to play in the Shads revival in the 70's when he invited them to play Eurovision.

Interesting in the old photos that Hank and the two Brians have quite trendy shortish French crewcuts, whilst Bruce and Cliff still stick with the 'old fashioned' teddy boy quiffs!

Indeed. This is making me re-think the date. Perhaps around autumn 1962 (which would accommodate the haircuts and George's
It'll Be Me) rather than the spring of 1963 (which is when I first thought it must be).

The colour of the instruments helps with dating the picture and in most cases the greyish shade suggests they're probably red. However the bass guitar looks white in the lower picture.
