We will be in London August 26 and 27 (GW)

Hi all,

I hope you are in good health and spirit.
God willing, my wife and I will be in London August 26 (Wednesday) and 27.
I would very much like to meet some of you who leave there. We could have a coffee (sorry, a tea)
together in a place of your choice.
Is there a Shadows club open on that day in London?.
If not, is there a Rockabilly venue in London we could go to?.

Blessings,
Abel

Hi Abel,

The South Coast Shadows Club in Waterlooville, Hampshire has a meeting on the 26th August. Although South of London a fast train from London Waterloo to Havant will only take 1hour 30mins. Alternatively if you get off at Haselmere Station (55mins from London) we could pick you up and drive you down to the club's venue.

Cheers,

Bob

Hi Abel

We do have a South Coast Shads Club meeting on the 26th of August. It is run by Myself and John Gray ( and has been for the last 11 years ). It would be great to see you there and hear you play, we have Backing Tracks and a live band, so no excuse not to.
I remember you playing at an early Shadowmania Friday night where John and I helped out with the equipment and sound.
Bob is one of our regular players as well as running his own Shads Club at Hersham, so if you fancy a night of Shads / instrumentals come on down, you will be made very welcome.

Hi Bob, Geffers,

Thank you for the offer to pick me up at Haselmere station.
I will have to factor that in with our short stay in London, but I will be happy to meet you and jam
over a few tunes (not only Shadows though).
I'll probably bring a few Non-Shadows backing tracks with me if I make it there.

I'll keep in touch with you from Florence, IT (my departure place to London).

Eric (Ecca) and others, can you make it, is it far from your place?

Blessings to all,
Abel

Hi Eric,

We will book the flight and the hotel from Florence, IT the week of August 17.

I'll keep you posted. Don't book the train yet.
It will be nice to see you and all the other friends from the area.

Blessings,
Abel

Morning Abe, we need to book the train early to get a decent price and the date will probably be the 26th . Whereabouts will you be ?

Hi Eric,

We are planning to get early morning in London on the 26th of August, spend the night and the next morning, and then head
to the ... Queen Mary II in Southampton to embark before 4:00 pm on August 27 (the ships leaves at 6 PM) for an 8 day transatlantic
trip to New York (only $699 one way).
Our friends in Florence will book for us the flight and the hotel in London while we are there.
This is our schedule for now.
How far from London do you live?
Also, Gillian and Ian live somewhere between London and Southampton,
not sure how far, but we would love to see them too along with Jim Nugent whom I believe lives in the same area
Gillian took me to Jim's club (between London and Southampton ? not sure).

Blessings,
Abel

26th August at Waterlooville is do-able (though it's mid-week and a fair distance).

For Abel, it might be best if I explain the rough locations distances involved for Ecca and for us.

For Ecca - and it shows what a stand-up guy he is, it's about 180 miles each way!

For us, only about 100 miles each way and eminently do-able by car (though we'd look at staying the night, I should think).

Here's a map of the region and rough locations (the travel lines are stylised as straight lines):
