O.T. GOOGLE HI-JACK ????

Postby martcaster » 14 Jul 2015, 18:21

Howdy, chaps. Looking for help, if anyone can??
I'm with Virgin Broadband and I receive my e-mails via @virgin.net. Recently, when signing in to Virgin to view my latest e-mails, as soon as I get to my Inbox the page is taken over by Google demanding I sign in to them. I have an account with them, but only so's I can subscribe to some Youtube sites. When I give in and sign in to Google it shows me my Googlemail Inbox (empty) and rersolutely refuses to allow me to go back to my Virgin inbox.
Have any of you guys had this problem and 'fixed' it? I've tried Googling the problem (I know, I know!!) but it seems that Google themselves have filtered the responses, because it 'appears' that nobody else has come across this (???)
Weird or wot? All help gratefully received. Thanks in anticipation.
Mart.

I think it's related to this: http://help.virginmedia.com/system/self ... TYPE=Cable

As far as I know Virgin's mail service is a customised version of Google Mail, so it looks like Google have changed something on their end and now it doesn't work like it used to (but because I don't have a Virgin account I can't see what's actually happening).

Hope that helps!

Thanks to Gary and Martcaster Junior (???whohe??) I'm in the middle of saving the universe from imminent disaster, currently, (not as vital as this, I know; but, hey! someone's got to do it) when I've seen to that and the kiddies are sleeping safe in their beds, I'll go for it. In the meantime, guys, like the man said...Thanks,
Mart.

OK young man. I've read all that stuff and understood it (??) But I'd like to know from Virgin "will this stop Google hi-jacking my e-mails?" Today, oddly enough, they haven't and I've been able to read them without interruption; but it's most frustrating when they just take over your e-mail listing and say "No, you have to read our listing instead (as I say it contains nothing!!)
And people wonder why I haven't got a mobile phone!!!!

Are you using http://mail.virgin.net to check your mail?

It could be that, if you've got a "Virgin" Google account with your Virgin address, and also a separate "Google" Google account using the same Virgin address, that Google is now getting confused between the two and assuming that you want to view your "Google" account now that Virgin has moved away from using Google to power its mail service.

The safest option, until Virgin move your address across to their new system, might be to sign out of all services and use one browser to sign in to YouTube etc. and a different one to sign in to your Virgin mail.

I have noticed this week when signing into my Virgin Media Mail via my Blue Yonder address,
a new box under the password has suddenly appeared.
This says I AM NOT A ROBOT which you must tick to verify not!!!!
Today another pop up box appeared where pictures of fish needed to be ticked in order
to complete the sign.in
Something stinks of being fishy or is this another example of Bransons childish behaviour?
Anyone else had similar log in additions?
