Shads at Royal Albert Hall for Cliff's 75th

Hello everyone.

Great concert last night at Royal Albert Hall.

Fantastic to see so many Shadows there in the audience - Bruce, Brian, Warren, Alan Tarney, John Farrar.

Bruce and Brian featured on the video screen messages too. Olivia NJ brought on the cake.

Set list included some early numbers including Summer Holiday and Move It.

I managed to talk to Brian after the show and said it would be great to see him on stage again. He gave me a mysterious 'hmmm' in agreement.

Also spoke to Alan Tarney - a songwriting hero of mine.

Warren's Twitter feed @warren_bennett has some great people photos.

Brilliant! Two surprises;

One that John Farrar was there - he's come a long way! and

Two that Alan Hawkshaw wasn't there! Mind you, he often goes off to 'sunnier climes' during the winter, so maybe he and John passed each other en route, somewhere across the Atlantic?!!!

Fingers crossed that we get to see the lads on stage again.

Happy belated birthday to Sir Cliff. Hope I look that good when I'm 75. ;)

P.S Just seen the pics. Great - especially the one with Alan Tarney, Bruce Welch, John Farrar, Brian Bennett and Terry Britten. WOW!!! Imagine if they had all got on stage to back Cliff for a song or two!!!! And ON-J too!!!! Do I wish I'd been there? I'll say Yeah!!!!

Thanks warren...

Indeed great to see most of the mid 1970's Shadows together again! But not Hank... If Hank was there, they would certainly be asked to perform with Cliff as Cliff Richard & The Shadows.

When you look at that line-up (Tarney, Welch, Farrar, Bennett, Britten) you have to marvel at the sheer number of hits that they wrote/produced/performed! Just off the top of my head we have Cliff, Olivia, A-ha, Tina Turner, the Shadows, Leo Sayer... Wow.

As Cliff usually releases a live DVD after every tour, and as this is officially his 75th birthday tour, I am hoping that the 14th was recorded for release. I suppose they could always cut out the singing of 'Happy Birthday' if they didn't want to pay the royalties!

:D

P.S. I now gather that this concert WAS recorded and is due for release on November 30th.

Actually there was a Hank presence musically - as the Hank album was played as the audience gathered before the concert and during the interval.

So do I, but I don't think I look that good now!

Hmmm... Come to think of it, I've NEVER looked THAT good. Oh well.

Surprising, but good to know.

My father and I went to see Cliff in Amsterdam last year and before and after the concert and during the intermission, Hank's album "Hank" was played over the sound system. We didn't have a copy of it yet, but to us it sounded very promising and so it turned out.
