Have just noticed the John Barry CD is going to be on iTunes soon - apparently with 4 bonus tracks looking at the moment to be only available with the whole album.

This could compete with the Silver Album/XXV rip-off for the number one Shadows steal from loyal fans.

Hope this changes but somehow I doubt it.

Why do I feel badly done to?
Bought the CD in good faith as an"entity" only to now find that 4 tracks were kept back for iTunes to flog as a "special".
Worse, I have to subscribe to iTunes AND buy the album all over again if I want these tracks - all of which will delivered in un hi-fi mp3 quality.
I feel conned! Anyone agree?

I agree entirely, I dislike itunes more than brussel sprouts - and that's a lot!

...so presumably you will be able to download individual tracks. I'll admit that I was surprised that Diamonds Are Forever was not on the CD, as it seemed so obvious a choice.

That's the way it goes these days. Beware of complaining or you will be slapped down, told how lucky you are and that you need to get a life! I'm reminded of the whole final concert of the Final Tour Hammersmith Odeon/London Palladium 'debate'.

I'd be happy if individual tracks become available at the usual 99p - from anywhere - but a real weirdness here is that if we are honest only deep Shads fans will ever be aware of this CD and the casual buyer will not be interested anyway.
So most, even all, of the sales may already have happened and I suspect as long as Shads fans have The Appointment they are not going to pay another 9.99 for 4 tracks.

So it's not even commercial sense!

I can't agree with that! Brian is on all the tracks. Hank and Bruce are on The Appointment. Licorice is on Midnight Cowboy. Mark Griffiths and Dave Richmond are both featured widely. And other guitarists of great calibre are present, not to mention excellent orchestral players.

If the individual tracks become available on iTunes, then I'll buy the tracks that are not on the CD. I assume the reason they're not on it already is that CDs have a capacity limit, but there's not enough recorded material for 2 CDs.

I am fine if I can buy the four tracks individually, but having to buy the other 14 tracks again sounds somewhat unreasonable.

The CD has a playing time of around 47 mins. So there would be enough space to include these four tracks.

It's just business.

It has been normal to reserve some tracks for a certain format ever since the 12" single appeared. Sometimes (esp back in the 1980s/1990s), you'd need to buy the 12" vinyl, 7" vinyl, cassette and CD-single to get the full selection of "B-sides" that were made available. It was done so as ro keep a single in the charts, with different format releases (with different mixes and accompanying supporting tracks) phased in over a month or so.
