Just heard the sad news of the death of a true legend. Scotty Moore passed away at 84 yesterday. He was THE Inspiration of many, many of todays guitarists. May he rest in peace.

Hear hear, those early Presley hits wouldn't have been the same without him. RIP Scotty.

Amen to that Dave!
Scotty was a Trailblazer.
He certainly inspired me.
Rest easy Scotty
(Spooky!!! Just as I write this "Jailhouse Rock" came on the Radio!)

Another sad loss in this year of losses, 2016.

Like Hank, an important part of Scotty's sound was tape echo. Scotty's amp had echo as a built-in effect, which is why the slapback echo that Sam Phillips put on Elvis's voice is different from the slapback on Scotty's guitar.

Scotty Moore's playing on those early Sun recordings was just fabulous.

He certainly set a trend that was to be so influential. RIP Scotty.

Another regretful passing. As with many of his fellow players, the Travis/Atkins influence underscored his seminal style.

Two band mates and I went to see Scotty's last performance in London a few years ago. He clearly unwell and his wife came on stage with him to do a lot of the talking. There was a superb band on stage and Scotty played a lot of his signature licks. For the three of us it was a moment of history.
This video was of another occasion but shows the Scotty we saw.
