I know this has been mentioned before, probably back on the old site several years ago, but recent arrivals may have missed it.

It is a wonderful read with so much information on the first 20 years of the UK Rock & Roll industry. There are some classic stories and annecdotes on just about every guitarist and bass player you have ever heard of and a whole chapter on the Shads, That Strat, and Apache. For me, however, the funniest stories come in the final chapters relating to the session world and what goes on in and around the recording studios.

I got mine off Amazon a few months back, as you say a very interesting read,
with great anecdotes!

I always check on Amazon for out of print books, my copy of 17 watts came from
the Oxfam bookshop in Brighton, via Amazon was new and cost £23 with p+p,
hardly more than the new price when it was published.

The funniest book I have ever read and a must for all fans of 60's bands.

It's a great read - A must have. It was also available for the American market under the title 'Play Like Elvis' (?!) with a different forward, but otherwise the same book. I wonder what our American cousins thought after buying a book with that title, to read about experiences of young aspiring musicians back in black and white Britain, who generally didn't have two pennies to rub together! The title '17 Watts?' fits the content perfectly.
