Out Of The Shadows Half - Speed Master Vinyl Reissue

Came across this recent(?) Half - speed Master deluxe LP reissue on heavyweight vinyl just a few days ago. Looks great of course. But.....the sleeve notes were 'interesting'. Well - written on one level. But.....it seemed to me..written by someone who had 'boned up' on the Shads, yet had no true understanding of the group's history or their music whatsoever. Has anyone else come across this particular LP? I would be interested to hear your views on the write - up. Shame the label did not approach anyone from this site to do the job!

Thanks for that scan, Ulrich.

Interesting stuff (and it isn't the first time that "Out Of The Shadows" has been re-released on vinyl by a company other than the former EMI).

But those sleeve notes... Mustang and Shotgun "from the same period"?

Only fifty percent of the group which played on those two 1960/1961 tracks is heard on the LP!

PS: How do you do the LP-size scanning?

Commercial scanning service? Or is there a trick to it?

Quite simple: Plustek OpticPro A320 scanner. Scans 304.8 x 431.8 mm, which leaves 2.5 mm on two opposite sides.

Hi Rob,
I was unsure as this LP is definitely no Half-Speed Master re-issue. It is an audiophile pressing (180 gram high-definition premium virgin vinyl pressing).
It comes from Spain (details can be viewed in the scans below).
This label has also released the Shadows' 1st LP in 2015.

There is a lot of debate about Wax Time Records on the Internet (eg Steve Hoffman Music Forum & others). The general consensus is that they are 'OK'.....but that pressings of some albums are 'flaky' and that some of their claims can be misleading. So, indeed 'Caveat Emptor''. The LP I was looking at was still sealed ( shrink wrapped ) but definitely claimed that it was a half -speed remaster from the original aanalogue tapes......probably a false claim then.....
