He says: “It’s still a dream of mine to do the Albert Hall for a month – for one day on, one day off, so I get a day off in between each performance. That’s the dream.”

The perfect time for a Cliff/Shadows reunion...

It would be great to have a Cliff / Shadows reunion at the Albert Hall.

I'd love that to happen, it would be a dream come true

If that's his dream, why doesn't he just do it? He's got the appeal, he'd sell the tickets. Other than probably having to book the venue years in advance, I don't see anything in his way.

I think the "dream" can be best understood within the full context of the interview from which the quote is extracted.

Cliff was talking about booking the RAH for a whole month without the strain of personally performing on consecutive nights (he is, after all, pushing 76). So the idea would be to have another performer who would do alternate nights for the month. Cliff would do Monday, the other performer would do Tuesday, Cliff would do Wednesday, and so on.

He did suggest having approached Neil Diamond about being the "other," but Neil wasn't interested, preferring instead to do fewer nights at larger venues (like Earls Court). In addition to audience sizes (5,000 at RAH versus 18-19,000 at Earls Court), being the "other" performer in this scenario commits you to spending a whole month in London.

Apparently, Daniel O'Donnell is prepared to be the "other" but there's a matter of finding a month that fits both of them. As a matter of personal opinion, while I know that Daniel is a very popular concert attraction, I'm not quite sure whether he could entirely hold up his end of selling-out a half month of RAH gigs.

Of course, Cliff could book the RAH for a month himself and just do every other night. But I imagine that the economics of leaving the venue unused for half the time would be a problem.

They'd find it a bit awkward playing to an audience of one, let alone 18 - 19000 at Earls Court ;)

It's a dream. Nothing wrong with that. We all have dreams. Then we wake up.

(although I'm sure he could afford to book the RAH for a month if he really wanted to do something like this)

Maybe Cliff and The Shadows should leave things as they are as they went out on a high ........... (?)
