Is there a list anywhere, featuring just the tunes and songs using the Burns double six - some leap to mind straightaway, but it would be interesting to have the information gathered...? :geek:

Absolutely nil (0) Shadows' recordings.

Almost certainly the same number of Cliff Richard recordings (because most double tracked with two guitars).

"Don't talk to him" and "On the beach" would have been performed live with D6 (one with octave down tuning?).

"Razzmatazz"? Double tracked?

Hows about 'I'm The Lonely One' - I remember them using the D6 live playing that and 'I Could Easily Fall'

According to Tony Bacon (in his book about the Rickenbacker 12-string) Don't talk to him was double-tracked, but I'm the lonely one was the D6.

The only other instance I can recall was that European live gig clip on YouTube where Cliff does What'd I Say and Hank is using the sunburst Double Six (with the octave bass strings)

Not surprised that particular guitar wasn't used much- it must have been almost impossible to play- a six string bass can be hard enough to play, and a normal 12 string electric with the heavy strings used back then would be no picnic either- imagine combining the two!

thank you for your replies on this, surprisingly few, then! Having seen the new Beatles film, their Rickenbackers were used to great effect on a large number of their great songs.
In the case of the Shadows, and Cliff of course, On the Beach and I Could Easily are great examples. If double tracked recordings are included...?
I have thought of War Lord, and Genie With the Light Brown Lamp would be good on a 12. Rhythm & Greens would be the main period, I suppose? :geek:

Was there a 12-string electric on Fiesta from the instrumental medley in Finders Keepers - or was it double tracked as well. They used acoustic 12-strings on several songs - including an alternate take of Genie...

Hank confirmed to me in 1968 that Don't Talk to Him was Double Tracked on a Strat.

I'm the Lonely One and On the Beach were done on the Double Six with the lower octave strings
