It has been barely 3 months since Bob sadly passed away. As has been said many times already, Bob was a great guitarist and a long standing stalwart of the Shadows community. He supported so many Shadows Clubs all over the UK. He was always so friendly, enthusiastic and approachable. Most notable,,of course, was his prominent role in the Surrey Shadows Club. His drive, devotion and commitment contributed enormously to the great success and popularity of the club. Like many people of his type, Bob never sought personal glory or plaudits. He did evetything for love of the Shadows and their music and to help and encourage others. He always had the full support of his family and, of course, the wonderful Charlotte by his side.
Bob was always a great supporter of the late Jet Harris too. Moreover, following Jet's demise, Bob was an ardent supporter of the Jet Harris Memorial Fund. I would just like to say at this juncture that so many people on Shadowmusic have also been loyal Jet Harris supporters - providing donations and organising fund raising events etc., so thanks to each and every one of you. Bob was a big part of many such projects. Inevitably, when we get into our 60s and 70s, thoughts of our own mortality occasionally flash through our minds. So, Bob and Charlotte may have discussed these things in fleeting moments. Well, tragically, Bob was taken from us far too soon and without warning. His loss is still keenly felt. The magnificent sum of £2, 113.00 was raised in his honour / memory. At a very difficult time and with great magnanimity, Charlotte announced that it was Bob' s wish that any such monies should be donated to the Jet Harris Memorial Fund. For that magnificent and selfless
gesture I know that everyone connected with the JHMF is immensely humbled and grateful. So, on behalf of the JHMF I would just like to say....Thank You Charlotte, Thank You everyone.....and God Bless You Bob.
