This sure sounds like Little B to me...

I hope Brian and the lads are aware of it.

Yes I have heard this a few times on the Holiday Inn advert and it does sound a bit like Little B and someone is playing about on the drums. It could be Brian`s tune and he might be getting paid for it ,after all he has done music for television shows before .

Definitely not by Mr Bennett. It's called Blister In The Sun by the Violent Femmes, and it's from the early '80s:

The point I was making was that the composer of the piece used in the ad may have based it upon Brian's drum solo intro...

A lovely bit of irony, taken from the song's Wikipedia page:

In 2008, the song was featured on a Foster's Lager "Stealing Shadows" advertisement.

Brilliant. Maybe someone in the know, er, knows something?

Funny how some people haven't picked up on the irony in the actual advert as the kids shout, excitedly, "We're going to Slough!" - generally regarded as the dreariest town in the UK. Of course they are excited not at the prospect of visiting the town but visiting 'Grandad', who evidently lives there! Mind you, was it actually filmed in Slough? I'm sure David Brent would know.

After having a listen, I recognise the song...my son used to play that one all the time at home when he was a teenager back then- the Violent Femmes were a sort of indie band back then...not to my taste, and nor was most of electronic dance music his older sister played....but at least neither of the kids listened to and subjected their mother and me to rap/hip hop!

I'd noticed the resemblance but never having heard the original, assumed it had been written specially for the advert.

The question is how much of a tune can you copy before the owner takes you to court? In this case they've repeated just 5 notes over and over again. Because the tune doesn't develop along the same lines I suspect BB wouldn't be bothered.
