Graham Norton plays 'Sacha'

I nearly drove off the road with surprise this morning when Graham Norton played Sacha on his morning show on Radio 2. It was introducing an interviewee called Sacha something-or-other. Not a tune you expect to hear when you turn your radio on...!

I heard it too. Great example of a radio producer seeking out some 'point music' and deciding that Hank's record would fit the bill. Encouraging.

I revise my opinion of Mr Norton forthwith!

How disappointing! I though you meant he actually PLAYED Sacha! :)

I very much doubt if Graham Norton has any input on the music played - his production team probably chooses it all! Probably he had never heard the record before anyway, and would be chatting to the person he was interviewing and so not listening to it! I must admit when he comes on - I switch off!

I'm sure you're right, Neil, I just thought it amazing - when you seldom hear anything by The Shadows on the radio these days - to hear something as obscure as Sacha! I remember Len Goodman playing Maggie's Samba a couple of years ago, and can still remember Simon Bates playing A Matter of Moments and My Home Town on Radio 1 one morning to commemorate Bruce's birthday!

Welcome, though it is to hear this great tune on Radio 2 (and to hear it played almost in its entirety, including the solo in the playout), I've no doubt that the only reason it was played was because his guest was called 'Sacha'!
