New book - Uncommon People - with a chapter on Hank

I've not seen this mentioned already, but there's a relatively new book out, "Uncommon People" by David Hepworth, which explores the rise and fall of the "rock star", taking one example per year from 1955 - 1994 and illustrating a key point in their career. The 1960 chapter focuses on The Shadows (but primarily Hank), the release of Apache and how that kicked off the explosion in home-grown guitar-based bands in the UK.

It doesn't cover anything that people around these parts won't already be familiar with, but it's a lot more detailed than the usual "scant mention before moving on to The Beatles" that you get in other books covering the same sort of time. Definitely one for anyone with an interest in popular music of the last half of the 20th Century.

Cheers
