A NEW CLUB?
Posted: 29 May 2017, 20:18We moved to Herefordshire last year, and though I am still involved in running the West Of Wales Shadows and Guitar Club, the distance (a six-hour round trip) means I can only be there every other month. So, in addition to that, I was thinking about the possibility of starting a new club closer to home.
We live in the village of Hope-Under-Dinmore, just off the A49, between Leominster and Hereford, and we have a village hall which is under-used at the moment, and which would make a good venue (it has a kitchen and plenty of free parking).
My idea is for a fairly relaxed and informal club for both players and listeners, focussing on music of The Shadows and similar groups but including anything in the spirit of that kind of music, be it from the golden era of guitar instrumentals or more recent. I think it would be better to avoid vocals.
To get started and be viable, I would only need around half a dozen players (though more would be great!) who could come along on a monthly or bi-monthly basis. If anyone is interested in giving this a go, please contact me either here or via PM.
