found this on You Tube Cliff and The Shadows singing Bachelor Boy ,it doesn`t sound like it was mimed to the recording and it features Hank on piano John Rostill on bass Tony Meehan on drums could it be live or prerecorded .

The clip came from the Sound of the Sixties and was mimed. The Shadows played Apache, Cliff joined them for Bachelor Boy and then he sang Congratulations.
A couple of things give the miming away, Apache was the original (strats), notice how the piano intro starts before Hanks hands are on the piano and no guitar cables.

The backing track sounds like the original late 1962 studio version, but the vocals (lead by Cliff and harmony by Bruce) sound live. For this show I think they wanted the most original line-ups of the performing groups as possible. That's the reason why Tony was asked instead of Brian, or was Brian unavailable? Quite why John appeared instead of Jet I don't know, but I somehow have a feeling.

I was there when Hank told Brian that Bruce was doing it!! It was backstage at Stockton Fiesta Club in December 1969 and I happened to mention it was exactly a year since Bruce had left. There was the usual banter about Bruce not working for 12 months and Hank said he was doing the show on New Years Eve. Brian jokingly said he wouldn't do it if Bruce did and Hank told him he wasn't doing it anyway!! Tony was asked to get as close to the original line up as possible. Jet was considered to be unsuitable at that time.

These appearances are very peculiar. The tracks 'performed' were "Apache" by The Shadows, "Bachelor Boy" by Cliff Richard & The Shadows and "Congratulations" by Cliff Richard. Take "Apache": it was recorded by Hank, Bruce, Jet and Tony with Fender and acoustic guitars. Here it is mimed to with Burns guitars and with a line-up which has never ever recorded as a four-piece: Hank, Bruce, Tony and John Rostill. Also of this line-up, "Bachelor Boy" was only recorded with Hank and Bruce in addition to Cliff.
I do think it is great to have seen Bruce and Tony back with The Shadows at the tail end of the 1960's, which kind of closes a significant chapter in The Shadows' history.

I think it was inevitable that they would do Apache and also inevitable that they'd be using whatever they were using (instrument wise) at the time. And let's face it, the combination of the black suits and white guitars looked great! I doubt that they would have had the old red and white Strats to hand, they hadn't used them since 1963 and were currently endorsed by Burns. Bachelor Boy was, perhaps, a less obvious choice, but maybe Cliff and Bruce wanted some royalties?

The 'After Ten Fellas...Ten' 1968 programme is even stranger, with Tony miming to Brian's drumming on 'The Rise and Fall of Flingel Bunt'.

Brian was unwell during the recording of 'After Ten Fella's', hence Tony was drafted in.
