I certainly continued to buy Shadows singles - as long as I knew they'd been released!

Saturday Dance - I bought this on a black label 45 in 1963 (I'd looked it up in the EMI catalogue).

Tomorrow's Cancelled - Bought this on release in the summer of 1967.

Goodnight Dick (HM) - Bought this on release, spring 1969, if I recall.

London's Not Too Far (HM) - Bought on release, mid-1967.

Love Deluxe - Autumn 1978? Bought straight away. The B-side was better.

Themes From Eastenders & Howards Way - I do have the vinyl. Probably bought it straightaway.

Shadowmix - I got the CD single by ordering it. Then later, the French version of "...At Their Very Best", which also included this track (21 in total).

Why stop at physical sales? It would be really interesting to know how many of their recordings have been bought digitally through the years - I am sure that The Beatles, Elvis, Floyd, Queen, Bowie, U2 etc all now - pre digital - recognise sales units like this. We all know that the way we buy music, at scale, now is very different now than 'units of physical sale'. This would probably give us more of an accurate trend of interest over recent years - combining both types of sales. How do the charts recognise this I wonder? Do they factor it in at all?

As I know you are all hungry for more of those delicious stats... the charts for 1984 are now available and they confirm that 'On A Night Like This' fell just short of possible hit status, peaking at 107

It's chart run so far
18.08.84: 127 (765 sales)
25.08.84 : 107 (1122 sales)
01.09 84: 140 (578 sales)

fascinating I am sure you all agree :)

For those who are still tuned in, the charts from May 1986 have become available, and show that 'Moonlight Shadow' peaked at 108, and sold a shade over 3000 copies in its month on chart.

Dancing In The Dark - charted two weeks after release and spent 1 week at no 175 (c. 300 sales). Would have thought it might be a bit higher with TV promotion and a remix.

I'm sure everyone is keenly anticipating further updates, here is another I have found

JET HARRIS - 'My Lady' (Fontana TF 849) - no 64. (9/8/1967)

Already mentioned, but for trainspotting sake, 'Themes From Eastenders & Howard's Way' went
13/12/86 - no. 127 (504 sales)
20/12/1986 - no. 86 (1,386 sales)
27/12/86 - no. 92 (1,134 sales)
03/01/87 - starred out between positions 107/108 (594 sales)
10/01/87 - (137/138) - 323 sales

I wonder what happened to grab the attention of the public above previous singles? I can't imagine it was played much on the radio or promoted on TV. It is one that makes me cringe a bit.
