Unusual songwriting teams

I sometimes wonder how songwriting partnerships came about.

Take Imagine Love, the B side of Cliff's Green Light single. Written by Jerry Lordan (actually not - see below) and Alan Tarney - two names you'd associate with the Shadows but during different Shads eras. It sounds very much like a typical Tarney track from the time with the strumming acoustic guitar and soft harmonies. But I wonder whether it was a Lordan instrumental that Tarney put words to, or whether they actually got together in the same room and worked out a song.

It's a nice piece anyway.

According to the website http://www.cliffrichardsongs.com, "Imagine Love" was written by Alan Tarney and Petrina Lordan.

She (Petrina Lordan) also wrote Water Under the Bridge on Olivia's 1975 Have You Never Been Mellow LP. This LP also contains a Marvin-Farrar song - It's So Easy - which is unavailable elsewhere, as far as I know.

Yes you're absolutely right - the internet was wrong including Wikipedia.

As a songwriter myself (of Christian songs) I went on to the PRS for Music website for the definitive answer and found that it was indeed Petrina Anne Lordan and Alan Tarney.

Alan Tarney is associated with 333 songs on the site, P Lordan with 46.
